Aviation Security International

December 30, 2008

Years from now when historians look back on the opening decade of the 21st century, they will probably be struck by how terrorism has conquered our imagination. As with war, technology has enabled terrorism to make its impact felt, putting terrorism on the world stage with the 9/11 bombings.

In this issue of Aviation Security International (August 2008; Volume 14 Issue 4), the featured article on “Masked Identity: how terrorists travel” questions passports as a reliable confirmation of identity.

While fraudulent IDs may not be as easily attained within Singapore, aviation is without boundaries, and issues that plague other countries are issues that we should be concerned about. What can be done to ensure that we are constantly at the front of the pack in picking up the latest technologies and information? And beyond technology, how can we ensure that security personnel are equipped with the relevant skills?

Established 14 years ago, Aviation Security International is the only international magazine that is solely dedicated to security issues in aviation. The column “Air Watch” looks at sabotages and attacks, unruly passengers, and judgements and arrests that have taken place. Two other featured columns include “News”, and “Security Diary” which highlights upcoming events and conventions related to the aviation industry.

Why not pick up this journal to find out more? It can be found at Level 4, under HE9797.4 SEC.ASI.
